CO-OP TURNS TO THE CLOUD TO IMPROVE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE


The Co-op has announced plans to transform the way it processes coupons, vouchers and customer offers.

The convenience store retailer has signed a deal with Promotional Payment Solutions (PPS) to introduce PromoPay – a ground breaking cloud-based solution that will simplify processes at the checkout and the subsequent reconciliation and settlement.

The software will be rolled out across all Co-op food stores and will offer real-time services to ensure coupons, vouchers and customer offers satisfy all promotion conditions, including basket rules.

Louise Hoste, Director of Customer Offer and Community said: “Customers and members are at the heart of the Co-op, and this new system – which greatly improves the processes that we use for coupons and vouchers, will help to improve our customer service offering.”

The Co-op recently introduced a new membership offer, which sees Co-op members receive 5% reward on purchases of Co-op own-branded products and services, with a further 1% going to local causes. PromoPay enables the Co-op to create and instantly deploy complex, personalised and targeted offers to customers, including the new membership proposition.

In addition, PromoPay’s stored value module enables Co-op to introduce a variety of prepaid products and incorporates a technology platform for its electronic Business Accounts services allowing it to grow its presence in the community.

Louise added: “The Co-op currently accept 16 million coupons with a value of £12m per annum so this investment will significantly update the way in which we can process coupons.”
